Back in the 1950’s in the Mexican village of Calvillo, Severino Martinez cultivated guavas in his orchards. The trees yielded such a bountiful crop and the fruit was so sweet that his wife Cesarita, who loved sweets and baked goods, began canning the guavas and transforming the luscious fruit into jams and marmalades. It gave Cesarita great pleasure to share the recipes with her children and grandchildren.
To keep her grandmother's legacy alive, Marie Maldonado-Cohen has chosen to continue the family tradition. Her company, Guava Gourmet, still using the original recipes, is now bringing these delicious fresh and natural guava jams, marmalades and pastes to you here in the United States.
